A Statistical Study of Match Durations Over 20 Years

In this article Squash Stats will take a look at how the match durations have varied over the last 20 years. It is difficult to define absolute relationships from match durations statistics alone, mainly due to the fact there is a large variation in durations and it depends on a lot of factors. However, in this article we provide a point of reference whereby matches can be compared to general trends. We explore the match durations in terms of gender, tournament stage, scoreline, and player rank difference. We conclude the article by taking a look at the average match durations for current and previous players.

Presented here is an analysis of the top 10 ranks for both male and female PSA players. This can provide us with a better understanding of the quality, longevity, and consistency of the players’ career. We also look at the dominance of the top 10 ranks by country.

This has caused many people to revisit older squash matches both from this generation and previous generations of squash players. In this article we explore the previous number one players, how long they maintained their number one ranking, which countries produced the most number 1 players and over which time periods.
